Equipment Roadeo a Blast!

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, the APWA Silicon Valley Chapter and City of Belmont Public Works Department co-hosted the Second Annual Operators Equipment Roadeo in honor of National Public Works week! MPWD participated in and supported the event in a number of ways – judging as a registered vendor, and as competitors in the fun-and-friendly obstacle course competition. A total of 21 local operators representing 12 different public agencies were invited and vied for a sponsorship opportunity to compete at the APWA National Roadeo in Seattle, Washington this fall.

The behind-the-scenes event provides the public and community an inside glimpse into what the men and women of our District do and the chance to stay connected with others in the industry. Robby Piccolotti (below, top) did the honor of donning the clipboard and issuing the score awards with Jonathan Anderson (at right) and Chris Michaelis (below, bottom) participating in the three separate contests offered: backhoe, mini-excavator, and skidskeeter. MPWD fared well in the competition with Jonathan finishing 4th and Chris Michaelis taking 11th place, all while having a great time!
