42nd Annual National Night Out Was a Hit!

The Mid-Peninsula Water District (MPWD) is proud to have participated in the 2025 City of Belmont's National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5 from 5:30 - 8:00 pm, which was held in various neighborhoods throughout Belmont.

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual, nationwide event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. This year marked 42 years of partnering neighbors with law enforcement across the nation with 17,000 communities and 38 million neighbors now participating in this unique event. This is a unique opportunity for kids and adults of all ages to interact with Police Officers, the Community Emergency Response Team, and Public Works.

This year's event had great attendance from members of the public, including residents, local leaders, public workers, and community organizations! Free food and ice cream were a hit, all against a backdrop of live, rocking music and strong neighborhood energy. 

Visitors to the MPWD booth thoroughly enjoyed exploring our popular water distribution display, which models the District's hydraulic delivery infrastructure for the service area. Operations staff engaged people – especially the kids – interested in learning more about how the system operates. Complimentary take-home goodies were also handed out at the booth, including our new, Water Worker Heroes sticker sheets for kids.

The MPWD would like to thank our hosts: Belmont Police Department, San Mateo Consolidated Fire, Belmont City staff, and the City Council; participants: Rethink Waste, Recology, San Mateo County Libraries; and attending District staff: Kat Wuelfing, Sarah Scheidt, Alison Bell, Michael Anderson, Drew Bost, and Shane Headley.
