MPWD Public Hearing on Present Vacancy Data and Recruitment Efforts

Assembly Bill (AB) 2561, effective January 1, 2025, requires California public agencies to monitor and report staffing vacancies, particularly when vacancies in a bargaining group exceed 20% of total budgeted positions. The law aims to promote transparency and ensure agencies maintain adequate staffing to deliver reliable public services. AB 2561 mandates that agencies hold at least one public hearing per fiscal year—before final budget adoption—to present vacancy data and recruitment efforts, and to allow for public comment.

In compliance, the Mid-Peninsula Water District will hold its required public hearing on June 26, 2025, to review current staffing levels and provide relevant vacancy information.
