Laurel Avenue Water Main Addition - Staff recently installed 450 feet of 6-inch PVC water main on Laurel Avenue. Adding this water to the distribution system alleviated two dead-ends in the system. It also allowed the District to abandon a water main located in an easement that ran from South Road to Cobblestone Lane.
Large Meter Replacement - Every other year all of the District water meters 2-inches and larger are tested to ensure they are accurately registering water usage. We are now in the process of replacing the meters that were not functioning properly. Normally when we go out to replace a large water meter we are able to removed the old meter and replace it with a new one without interrupting water service to the customer. On those rare instances when water service must be interrupted, we work with the customer to schedule a time that is more convenient for them and the District. Once removed, the old water meter is disassembled and rebuilt when possible or recycled when it has reached the end of its service life.
Exbourne Tanks Site - The contractor for this project has completed pouring concrete for the retaining wall. The floor of the tank has been completed and the sides approximately fifty percent complete.
MPWD Improves Safety Record - As the year comes to a close the District is proud that its' employees have had a safe year. Through safety training and meetings, the employees learn how to work in a safe environment. The District has had no workers compensation claims in more than 7 years. Congratulations to the District employees on this extraordinary accomplishment.
CPR/AED and First Aid Training - All District employees have taken and passed a refresher course in CPR, AED (Automated External Defibrillation) and First Aid Training. Although the District hopes the use of this training will never be necessary, our employees are ready should the need ever arise.
