SPECIAL MEETING

OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

OF THE MID-PENINSULA WATER DISTRICT

 

February 12, 2009

Belmont, California

 

 

CALL TO ORDER:  The Board of Directors’ meeting of the Mid-Peninsula Water District was called to order by President Feldman at 6:00 p.m.

 

A. ROLL CALL:

PRESENT:     Directors Altscher, Feldman, Linvill, Vella, Zucca

 

ALSO PRESENT:     General Counsel Cassman, Secretary Remeleh

Manger Regan was not in attendance due to a family emergency.

 

STAFF PRESENT:    Michael Anderson

 

MEMBERS OF PUBLIC:   Susan Couden, Facilitator from Couden and Associates

 

PRESIDENT: Mark Feldman presiding.

 

Whereupon the following proceedings were duly had:

 

B. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: 

Attorney Joan Cassman led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

C. PUBLIC COMMENTS:

None

 

D. DIRECTORS ASSIGNMENTS:

Secretary Remeleh gave an overview of the current Directors’ assignments.  After a short discussion it was decided to maintain the current assignments.  These assignments consist of the following:

1. All Board Members are a part of ACWA and may attend conferences. 

2. Director Vella is the District Representative to BAWSCA and has a seat on the Board of Directors of that agency.

3. Director Altscher is the District's representative to LAFCo and has a seat as an alternate on the Board of Directors of LAFCo. 

4. Director Feldman and Director Altscher are the representatives to the California Special Districts Association. 

5.  The General Manager or his representative and the Board President or his representative attends the monthly HIA meetings. 

6.  Director Linvill is the District's representative to the League of Women Voters and Sustainable San Mateo County but will only be compensated for meetings she attends that have business related to the District. 

Staff will scan the newspapers and inform Directors of events of interest they may want to attend. 

On motion by Director Altscher, seconded by Director Zucca, the Directors’ assignments were unanimously approved.

 

F. 2009 DISTRICT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES PLANNING: 

Facilitator Susan Couden led this portion of the meeting.  She requested that all Board and staff members list the top 3 goals they would like to implement for this year from the list of goals submitted to her at an earlier date.  Each attendee offered their goals until all were on the board with no duplicates.  Board and staff agreed on the top 3 goals and a list of objectives.  Some discussion ensued.  It was then decided to submit the goals and objectives to the General Manger for his review since he was unable to attend and hold another Special meeting to finalize the District Goals and to further discuss the objectives.   

 

 

E ADJOURNMENT:

President Feldman adjourned the meeting at 8:34.  The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the District’s administrative offices at 3 Dairy Lane, Belmont, CA 94002.
